Transgenic plants for enhanced biofuel production

During 2012, Biotechnology for Biofuels welcomes submissions to a special thematic series on transgenic plants for enhanced biofuel production.

The series will cover genetic modification of plant biomass traits to improve downstream processes such as enzymatic conversion, fermentation, pyrolysis and gasification. Studies focussing on plant modification for bio-production are equally welcome, such as those targeting production of oil for biodiesel or enzymes for the biofuels industry. Research or Methodology articles should have an applied context and explore gene functions relevant to biofuel production, however, studies do not need to show a full mechanistic story.Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

•  Production of conversion enzymes in plant systems
• Xylem engineering
•  Sugar release and composition
•  Inhibitor content
•  Composition of hydrolysate
• Pyrolysis and gasification characteristics
• profiles for biodiesel production
•  Regulatory implications for GM of dedicated bioenergy crops

 S   Submission of original Research and Methodology articles will be encouraged until 31st December 2012 and will be published as soon as they are accepted.
